Body (Ghost Boy, Supernatural) by Fabella
The third in the trilogy of "Body" vids--the clip on "try to speak American" is probably my favorite of the three. This time it's Sam whose connection and disconnection from the world is explored by way of "sometimes it feels like/you don't have a body."

Contact High by Penumbra
A deeply funny, intelligently written exploration of what it was like after Scully & Mulder got pulled out of that giant mushroom. Scully & Mulder are a lot smarter than average, and I like a story that makes use of that fact.

Recycled Virgins by Kel
A wry, unflinchingly observant Scully raises this story above the crowd. I admit to an almost unbreakable bias towards first times, but this story shows M&S settling, none too smoothly, into a permanent relationship in the midst of the rest of their lives.

Everything by Nascent by Nascent
Nascent is a master of writing as if M&S really care about science, mystery and investigation. Pillar of Salt is a masterpiece, beautifully taking advantage of XF premises, exploring the M&S relationship and speculating about the nature of the mind, using similar premises as Connie Willis in Passage.

The Sin-Eater by Jane Mortimer
This was one of the first XF stories I ever read, and it shaped me profoundly. Scully experiences a strange event on an investigation and Mulder is changed by it. Scully's slow realization of just how much he's changed is chilling.

Black Hole Season by Penumbra
Beautifully rendered Mulderlove for Scully after Orison.

Body (Heroes) by Sonya
Another of the Body trilogy--this one about Peter. Compare and contrast the use of "try to speak American" in the various versions.

Powder and Wax by Meredith Bronwen Mallory
A great look inside Lex's head these days. There are some word choice/editing issues, and my own view of Lex is that he has somewhat different feelings for Lana, but the images are fantastic and the small observations are both perfect and perfectly in character for Lex. (And, given that Lex is the ultimate unreliable narrator, I don't think that his thoughts about Lana in this story are necessarily giving us the full story.)

Change (in the house of flies) by Obsessive24
I like my Clark/Lex dark and painful, and this delivers.

Body (Firefly) by Obsessive24
The vidder calls it Mal/River; I call it Mal/River/Serenity, because she's always present with Mal and River of course was Serenity for a while. I like it in contrast with the other "Body" vids I've seen.

Piece of Me (RPV) by Obsessive24
Unbelievably powerful. I don't like humanity very much after I watch this vid--it's such an amazing exploration of complicity--hers, ours, the media's--in the destruction of a human being. The clips from the official videos turn poignant and horrifying by turns in contrast to the song and the unofficial clips.

Save Yourself (The Collector) by LithiumDoll
A vid for me! Made for the Vividcon auction. The Collector is a wonderful but short-lived Canadian series about a man who collects the souls of those whose deals with the Devil have come due, and sometimes (but only sometimes! This isn't American TV) saves them. Contact me if the vid whets your appetite.

Slipping in Between (Haunt Me Like a Curse remix) by Jenn/Seperis
Her remix of my Golden Rule: Lex's perspective. Very creepy!

Drinking Gasoline (The Internal Combustion Remix) by Melymbrosia
There is no limit to my love of this story. None. From the computer virus to the leather jacket, the Impala is 110% awesome; bonus notes for John being completely oblivious to how awful his parenting is despite his powerful love and his good intentions. (Mely likes John; this is my read of what he says, not hers.)

Emet (the Bitter with the Sweet remix) by 2ndary-author
A wonderful treatment of Jo, and a sharply observed take on the Winchesters, including their limited (but not entirely wrong) ethical world. And a nicely heroic ending, to boot. Dean/OC only, so pretty much safe for everyone, unlike my version.

Written for me, a delightful Have Spacesuit, Will Travel story in which Peewee grows up just as she should, with lovely details and a real Heinlein-meets-someone-who-can-write-women feel.
